Day two we tried to attempt the impossible...

wake up at 5.30 a.m. to see sun rise.

and the day before we had alcohol.

damn ambitious la we all i tell you.

but guess what, in the end we managed to move our lazy bums down to the shore before sun rise!! *yayyy*
but too cloudy cannot see the sun at all. FML, gimme back my bed damnit.

layers and layers of clouds blocking our view. sigh.

we waited till 6.30 or so and it was still so cloudy so we gave up and went back to our rooms.

by then it was pretty bright already.

next we had to prepare for our early morning snorkeling trip!

the guide brought us to this place called "Lima Island"

why is it called Lima Island?

because it's 5 pulau joined into one =.="

the corals here seemed much better and there were more different variety of fishes too!

the moment i went down i wanted to swim as far away from the crowd as possible to avoid all the flying kicks and buddha palms. (learnt from yesterday's snorkeling experience)

so alfie and i swam and swam until we were quite a distance from everyone and started snorkeling and exploring the corals and fishes. the guide also told us that if we were lucky we'll spot plenty of Nemos.

remember in the previous post i was talking about building muscles and stamina by snorkeling? i kid you not.

i was happily snorkeling around until there came a point when i had to come up and re-adjust my mask.

and when i did, i saw alfie. and it looked like he was more than 20 feet away from me.
and the others looked like tiny specks now.

uh-oh.

i looked back and there was no one else behind me. it seemed that i was the one furthest away from the boat.

alfie seemed to realize that something was wrong too:

"we're too far! let's go back!"

i nodded weakly and started to swim back towards the boat.

i swam for 10 minutes and looked up to see a huge sharp stone beside me, god help me if the current pushes me there, alfie was waaaayyy ahead by now.

fear started to seep in and i started thrashing harder now. 10 minutes later i looked up to see that damn stone again.

the current was pushing me backwards.

shit shit shit.

fighting against the current has left me breathless and my hand and feet felt like stone.

i wonder if this is how you feel when your ship crashes and you have to fight to survive in the sea. dehydration should strike soon because my lips were starting to feel funny already.

as the current swept over i could see the huge rock looming closer and closer.

i dunwan to become titanic no. II!!! T_________T

no matter how hard i kicked i couldn't find the strength to move forward. at times i inched a bit but the current quickly brought me back further again.

at times like this i looked down at my feet and wished i was a mermaid. wtf.

but instead i started to see grey things in the sea wtf wtf.

don't tell me i'm starting to hallucinate and see sharks T______________T

by now, alfie realized something was not right and shouted to me:

"ARE YOU OK!??"

i am about to crash into a freaking huge rock and i see sharks u think ok o notttt!!!

was what i wanted to shout but didn't come out of course sobs.

sensing something was off he swam back and caught hold of my life jacket:

"can you swim?"

i wanted to cry T____T

"i can't. im tired."

so he had to tow me back by holding on to my life jacket. now i feel damn useless *cries*

we had to swim a long way to get back to the boat, half way there he asked me if i was kicking.

i forgot @.@

so i started kicking like mad after that.

as we neared the crowd i told him i'd be okay, just go ahead and i'll be at his back. the current here wasn't as strong but i still found it difficult to inch forward but i tried harder each time because i didn't want to be the reason we both drowned in case he got too tired from dragging me T___T

as i was swimming halfway i finally had my first human contact with another tourist!

i looked at him and he was looking at me with a very sad stare. wtf.

is something wrong?

i threaded water beside him awhile, unsure if i should ask him anything but he didn't say anything and just stared at me with that sad look.

after a while i gave up waiting and started swimming towards the boat again. so half tow half swim i finally managed to get back nearer to jason and jia yee but we were still pretty far from the boat.

there i started pouring and describing my near death experience to both of them (haha drama queen sial) when we swam back and suddenly we heard people shouting ahead...

"SOMEONE NEEDS HELP THERE!"

and i turned around and saw the man i passed by earlier waving his hands signalling for help.

WTF so that was what the sad stare was about!???!

why didn't he just ask for help when i was there!?

but actually on second thought, he probably needed help... but one look at me he must have concluded that we would both go down faster then titanic.

shit yuuuu man.

shit you but wise.

wise for not relying on titanic no. II T_______T

so after a big huu haaaa the guide went to rescue him and i finally got back on the boat half dead and feeling like ham yu (salted fish) cause super dehydrated.

alfie just took one look at my lips and said:

"go back and drink water"

i dunwan to drink sea water alreaddyyy!!! T______________________T

and that was my most memorable snorkelling experience. bah.

It does sound scary. What a terrible experience. Would you call it near-death, though? Did your life flash past you as they say in movies?

Glad you're ok, though
